Year 4 have been learning who were the Romans and they used atlases to identify the European countries which were part of the Roman Empire.
Today as part of their fiery Earth topic Class 3/4MF have been investigating the layers of our earth in a very creative way.
Class 3/4MF have been talking about our extreme earth and its weather. They investigated earthquakes using a bowl of water and oranges, as thinking about how to stay as safe as possible during an earthquake.
1C had a great geography lesson this afternoon learning all about maps. We made our own model village of Shotton in groups with lego, then we took aerial photographs of it with an iPad to create our maps.
Reception have been learning how to look after our environment. We learned lots of ways to save water, recycle and how to make the environment safer for animals and people by not littering. We made posters about keeping the environment clean and tidy, the children worked really hard!
1C and 1/2M had a lovely time exploring our local area as part of our geography topic 'Our Village'. On the way back we collected lots of autumn leaves, berries and conkers as we are also learning about Autumn in science.
The Nursery children have loved the new additions to the block area this week! The new blocks with pictures of places in Shotton has helped children to talk about the area they live in. Lots of us recognise these places and visit them or walk past them on our way to school. The roads have made a great addition to help us build our villages
