We are a busy and lively school with lots going on to enrich the experiences of all of our children.
In this section of our website, you can find out about what has been happening in and outside of our school and lots of things that we have planned for the coming weeks.
Mrs Shaw (Head Teacher)
Dear parent / carer
We are excited to welcome the Scholastic Book Fair into our school next week (please see attachment). Children will be able to browse the book fair across the day tomorrow and parents / carers will be able to join children at the book fair from Monday 23rd March until Wednesday 25th March between 3:30pm and 4:00pm in the Key Stage 2 hall (enter through Year 5 / 6 doors).
For this event we will not be accepting cash, children must not bring cash into school for books. Parents / carers can make payment using a debit /credit card via QR code at the fair or by the following link https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay
Children will be given the opportunity to bring a Wish List home following their browsing slot and payment can also be made via the QR code at the bottom of the wish list. The Wish List must be returned to school once payment has been made.
If payment is made outside of the school fair times it is the responsibility of the parent / carer to inform school of the title of the book/books their child has chosen via the school office. Payment will be crossed referenced and books will be given to the child or ordered if out of stock.
During the week of the book fair £5 vouchers to spend at the fair will be given to 5 chosen children who have shown exceptional effort during reading both in school and at home.
The more money that is spent at the fair the more free books school will receive!
Thank you for continued support with such events it really makes a difference to our children in school.
Kind regards
Mrs Watson
Deputy Head Teacher
We are delighted to let you know that World Book Day will be taking place at our school on Thursday 5th March 2026.
World Book Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate reading and to share our love of books with the children. We are currently busy planning some exciting activities for the day.
Further information will be sent out in due course, so please keep an eye out for updates.
Thank you for your continued support.
We are thrilled to announce the return of our Santa Fun Run on Thursday, 11th December 2025!
Children participating in the Fun Run are encouraged to come to school dressed in their PE kit or in suitable Christmas-themed running fancy dress. We will also have a selection of festive accessories, such as novelty headwear and glasses, available on the day. Please remember that appropriate footwear for running is essential. Additionally, all participants need to bring a spare pair of shoes to change into after the run.
Each child will receive a lovely Santa Fun Run medal for their participation!
If you would like your child to join in, a minimum donation of £3.50 is required on ParentPay to cover the cost of the medal. Any extra donations will go towards subsidising the Pantomime trip. Nursery children that attend on an afternoon are welcome to come along with a parent / carer from 9:00am to 9:30am. Our debt policy applies to this event.
Please note that the maximum number of participants for this event is 220 children. Places will be allocated on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis. To ensure your child receives a medal for participation, your donation must be cleared in ParentPay by 12:00 pm on Wednesday, 10th December. If you need a barcode to make a cash donation at your local PayPoint, please contact the office and ensure payment is made before Friday, 5th December.
Thank you for helping to make this event a memorable and inspiring experience for our children!
On Friday 5th December we will be having Elf Day again. Santa Claus has the date in his very busy diary. For those children who were not with us on Elf Day last year it is a wonderful day when everyone dresses in green for the day (staff and children) and we have many Christmas activities including toasting marshmallows. All the children meet Santa in his grotto and receive a special gift.
Once again, this year we would love for our children to experience visiting an actual theatre and watch a pantomime. As such we have reserved tickets for children from Years 1 to 6 to see the morning performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Gala Theatre in Durham, on Wednesday 26th November 2025.
Please see email from school for further details
It’s almost Children in Need Day!
This Friday, 14th November, we’re joining in the fun to support Children in Need!
In the morning, we’ll be following our usual lessons, but the afternoon will be packed with exciting activities all about kindness, nurture, and helping others.
Come to school in non-uniform – show off your favourite colours, spots, or Pudsey gear!
Please bring a tinned food donation to help our local food bank – every tin makes a difference!
If you’d like to make a donation to Children in Need, you can do so through ParentPay.
Let’s make it a day full of fun, smiles, and giving back!
Thank you for your amazing support!
Have spent much of the morning uploading literally 100s of photos to our school website from an absolutely fabulous 3 days at Robinwood.
The children were an absolute credit to themselves all week and deserve to be incredibly proud of their amazing attitude, impeccable behaviour and how they have pushed themselves and encouraged each other to be utterly remarkable. Here is a link to the school website where you will find all of the photos taken whilst we were at Robinwood. The photos are in our 'Lastest News and Events' section of the school website.

A huge thank you as well to Mrs Harper and for Mrs Dooher and the office staff for helping in so many ways with organisation of it all- it involves a huge amount of work and without their willingness to go above and beyond it would not be possible to provide such wonderful experiences and memories for our children.
