Sports Leaders' Activities
During the summer term fourteen children from Years 4 and 5 applied for the position of Sport Leaders. After succcessful interviews they have undergone intensive training with Mr Horn (Simply Sports Coach) so that in September they will be devising and leading a programme of fun activities during Golden Time on a Friday afternoon.
After the October half term holiday our highly responsible sports leaders will be running a wide range of lunchtime activities for KS1 and KS2 pupils.
From September coaches from Simply Sport will be running lunchtime activities for our children to ensure that lunchtimes are active, purposeful and fun!!! There is no need to sign up for the programme of events. We appreciate that for some of our children, particularly those who travel on the school bus, it is difficult to come to after school clubs.
Although we are using coaches to lead and organiise these activities which will run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday dinnertimes there will be no charge for these activities. We are appplying for a National Lottery 'Awards for All' Grant to help fund these lunchtime activities. Children should just go into lunch as normal, ensuring that they take suitable footwear with them to change into.
Activities for KS1 and Reception children will run from 12:20pm to 12:50pm.
Activities for KS2 children will run from 12:55pm to 1:25pm.
Football Club will run on a Thuursday night after school. Our coaches from Simply Sport are running our football club for children from Years 5 and 6. If you wish to be in our school football team you will need to attend football practice each week.
Cross Country Festival
Athletics club will take place in Spring term.
Cross Country Club takes place on a dinnertime and is very well attended by an increasing number of our energetic children. You certainly don't have to be Mo Farrah to join, just as long as you are interested in improving your levels of fitness and don't mind being active, no matter what the weather is like.
Mrs Kelly just wants the children to gain a sense of achievement and enjoy putting their dinnertimes to good use. If children want to attend they must wear outdoor PE kit.
Gymnastics Club is extremely popular with our Key Stage 1 children. Mrs Kelly runs the club on a Wednesday after school and has been so impressed with the amount of progress our budding gymnasts are making already.
Dodgeball is a very popular club that runs throughout the year on a Wednesday evening after school. So that as many children as possible can attend, there is a rolling programme where different year groups attend each term. The club is led by coaches from Simply Spoprt and there is a small fee of £1 per sessions to cover costs.
Outdoor and Adventure
This term our coaches from Simply Sport will be running an outdoor and adventure activity club. There will be a wide range of activities to get involved in including team building challenges and orienteering. Why not come along and try something different? There will be a small charge of £1 per session to cover coaching costs.
