Our PE lesson is on a Tuesday afternoon, so please make sure your child has their PE kit, including gym shoes in school.
Last week we created Mexican inspired masks and seaside creatures out of clay. We will be using some of them to decorate our peace garden box. On Tuesday Year 2 explored the world of Mexican Food. We learned all about how to wash our hands correctly and how to cut food safely with sharp knives. We made scrumptious salsa and sweet cinnamon tortillas and had a wonderful Mexican Fiesta!
All of the children in year 2 have worked extremely hard throughout May and they have made the year 2 staff very proud of their hard work and determination! Well done to all of the boys and girls in year 2!
Today we had a party to celebrate the end of SATs!
Year 2 had an amazing time at Shotton Hall for our Outdoor Adventurous Activities day! We rescued Tinkerbell, navigated obstacle courses blindfolded and competed in throwing, running and skipping activities. We worked hard on our team building skills and most importantly had a great time in the sunshine!

Internet safety week
This week was world internet safety week and we learned all about how to be SMART online. The children made their own posters to warn other children about the dangers of the internet and how to keep safe.

Happy Chinese New Year!
In Maths we learned about the money envelopes that Chinese children get at New Year. We worked carefully to count the contents of each envelope!
In English we have been learning about the Legend of the Nian.

In Topic we learned all about Chinese new year celebrations and made our own Paper Drum to join in with the celebrations!
It's PANTO time!
We had a fabulous time at our school Christmas panto with Effy the elf!
This week we have been celebrating 100 years since the end of WW1. The children in year 2 have been learning about children who lived through WW1 and WW2, they have written diaries about an air raid and about being evacuated. Everyone has also made a gas mask, poppy from a bottle and children of the war art work.
Our key task this term is to write and create our own pirate pop up book! Were very excited to get started!
We talked about what we need to learn before we can attempt our key task. We're very eager to get started!

In Geography we will be learning all about maps and their importance, as well as hot and cold countries and the 7 continents.
In History we will be learning about famous pirates and sailors such as Captain Cook and Lord Nelson.
