We have thoroughly enjoyed our Healthy Fun Day. The children took part in a range of activities including the fab 'Nightline' with Mrs Kelly and Miss O'Connor and a lifesaving session with St. John Ambulance. Along with this, the children had a 'Smoothie Making' lesson with Mrs Blenkinsopp and Mrs Johnson followed by 'Rounders' with Miss Blackburn. Towards the end of the day, the rain began and we ended with a very soggy but fun session of 'Parachute Games' with Mrs Tilly. Our huge thanks go all the staff for making our day so great, we had a load of fun!!
Violin Lessons with Mrs Sellars
We have been working hard with Mrs Sellars learning to play the violin. Mrs Sellars has said we picked up the new skills very well.
We have been planting seeds as part of our Science topic where we will be finding out about the lifecycle and reproduction of plants.
Well done to our Year 5 children for taking part in a recent Basketball Festival at East Durham College, Peterlee. We are pleased you had such a fab time and really tried hard with your skills. Your behaviour and attitude could not be faulted - great ambassadors for our school.
Earlier in the term, we were set the challenge of producing a 'Rainforest in a Box' as our Key Task. Come and see our work.
A super 'Well Done' to our Year 5 children for all of the tremendous hard work and effort that has gone into their Homework Tasks. Staff have been overwhelmed with all of the skills the children have shown. First, second and third places have now been awarded within each class. Well done everyone!!
We have had an amazing visit from Steve and his 'Animal Ark'. It has been fantastic finding out all about the various creatures he brought in for us to meet. The children found out some interesting facts about variety of creatures such as stick insects, cockroaches, giant millipedes and even a tarantula, scorpion and snake!! A fabulous way to end our 'Rainforest' topic. A huge thanks to Steve and his friends!! Please come again soon!!

The Scary Tale of Dracula
A HUGE Well Done to our Year 5 children who have just performed their Count Dracula play to a packed out audience at The Academy at Shotton Hall. Everyone did an amazing job and have been absolutely fantastic ambassadors for our school. All our thanks go to Kelly for the rehearsals and also to school staff who helped with costumes and props etc. It really has been a wonderful experience and we now look forward to organising the play for our other Year 5 children to perform. Details are to follow.
Congratulations Mr Shield's Class on your achievement of 100% attendance. Keep it up!!
World Book Day Characters
Tickets are now on sale for the children's performance of 'The Scary Tale of Dracula' at Shotton Hall. The children have brought a letter home with the details. We may need help with costumes and props so please ask your child what they will be needing for the performance and if you can help in any way with providing things, it would be greatly appreciated.
All children should have brought home a Rainforest Task Pack this week. The activities are to be done weekly over the course of the next half term. The children have been told they can either wait and hand in all of their homework by the 23rd March, or they can hand each task in as they complete them. We look forward to seeing factsheets, posters, creations etc. and will be awarding prizes for the best efforts!!
Have a great half term!!

We have had an amazing last day of half term making things to celebrate Chinese New Year. This made Ms. Kerney's last day a very memorable one. We have made Chinese drums, focusing on Chinese symbols for Peace, Love, Hope and Friendship. Along with this we decorated cakes with cherry blossom and also monkey faces.

The improvement project is being led by the Chief of Durham Constabulary with more activities to follow.
