Year 1

Today Year 1 had a lesson from the school nurse. We learned why and how we wash our hands.

                                Sunflowers!

In science we have been learning about lifecycles. Last week we learned about the lifecycle of a Sunflower so this week we decided to plant our own. We have our fingers crossed that the sun will shine and they will grow!

Happy Harvest Festival!

We have been learning all about Harvest Festival. We learned all about the history of harvest and when and why it is celebrated. We were very kindly invited by the Rev. Anna Brooker to visit St. Saviour's church to learn more about the harvest and to look at the wonderful displays of harvest food in the church. Whilst at church we saw and leaned all about all the different fruits and vegetables that had been grown in Shotton and brought to the church for the harvest. Some of the fruits and vegetables we had never seen before, and the 'lemon cucumber' even fooled the teachers (Google to the rescue!).

We had a lovely morning and would like to thank Rev. Brooker for giving us the opportunity to learn more about Harvest.
