In the Autumn term children are baseline assessed to gain an understanding of the current cohorts prior learning and to set next steps.  During this time we used the Early Years Curriculum to plan our learning opportunities.

Learning and Developing in Nursery and Reception

Within the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) children are assessed against developmental goals linked to a child's age.

 

At the beginning of Nursery for most children we work from 20 to 40 months development goals and expected development. As children move through Nursery, staff begin to plan against 30 to 50 month developmental goals. However children are never an exact science....

 

At the beginning of Reception for most children we work from 30 to 50 months development goals and expected development. As children move through Reception staff begin to plan against 40 to 60 month developmental goals. However children are never an exact science....
