Week ending 10th November
Well what a busy 2 weeks we have had since returning back after our half term break.
We've made made pumpkin soup, had our Halloween disco and been to Beamish Open Air Museum.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how proud I was of all our children on our visit to Beamish, they were a credit to you and fabulous ambassadors for our school. Several members of the public commented on how well the children behaved.
What a busy half term! 1R have worked so hard learning and playing. I'm sure the children are ready for a good rest during half term. I'm looking forward to next half term when we will be preparing for our class assembly and Christmas production.
This week's readers raffle winners were Riley R, Leo and Destinie.
Week ending 13th October.
Another busy week in 1R, as you can see! Lots of learning and lots of fun! In English we have written stories, practiced spellings and handwriting and read our books. We have been counting in 2's in maths as well as ordering and sequencing numbers. In science we are learning about the sense of smell and smelled lots of strange things. In art we have been creating portraits in the style of Picasso.
The winners in our reader's raffle this week were, Lexie T, Alfie and Lily - well done.
The children have worked so hard this week. In history they have learned about the famous local men who have inspired the names of our house teams and have produced work for a class display.
In English they have thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea'. More fabulous work followed for another display. Photographs next week.
Year 1R have had a really busy week. We have been writing our own stories based on Funnybones. We have been learning about where we live and where Shotton is on the map. We have also done lots of number work.
Yesterday we had a fun day celebrating National Poetry Day. We read lots of poems, made up our own poem and learned a poem to perform, with lots of actions.
In Year 1R we have had a fantastic week! We have written some wonderful sentences based on ‘Funnybones’, in maths we’ve been counting to forwards and backwards from different numbers and have produced some fabulous portraits in art.
I'm so proud of the children who received attendance certificates today; Bradley, Phoebe, Lexie T, Kayden D and Aiden.
Our star pupils this week were Matthewthomas and Aiden, (photographs next week, hopefully.)
