Friends of Shotton Primary

We hope you all enjoyed this year's Summer Fete.  It never ceases to amaze us how supportive and generous our families are. Thank you, these events would not be possible without your support. Congratulations to Layton, Sophie, Isabelle, Lexie and Natasha who all won prizes for their fabulous entries in our Shotton Super Bake-off.

The Summer Fete is just one of many events the school celebrate with your children. If you would like to help in any way, then please contact me, Mrs Lowden at school. No matter how big or small we welcome your support. Thank you.

Just a quick update to advise you that Mrs Lowden, Mrs Shaw, Mrs Chaytor and Mrs Wickens are meeting next Wednesday 10th May to commence organising our popular school fayre. If you would like to be involved please contact Mrs Lowden via the school office.

Thank you in advance

Welcome to 'The Friends of Shotton Primary'

A bit about me!

My name is Mrs Lowden, I am looking forward to continuing my role as community links co-ordinator by promoting the school and its community.

My ethos has always been that the school and community should work hand in hand to deliver the best possilbe opportunities for our children. Being part of this community makes me very proud.

I look forward to hearing from any of you who would be interested in volunteering some time.  Please contact me at school if you are interested.

Please keep checking this page for further events.

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs M Lowden

Friends of Shotton Primary is a group set up with the express aim of wanting to benefit the children of our school. Please read on to find out more and how you might get involved.

Friends of Shotton Primary School was initially set up in March 2014 to enable parents, carers and anyone from our community who wants to support our school and children on a practical level. From September the group will be led by Mrs Lowden who is keen to re-establish it as an active group, raise its profile and enable it to become more involved in the everyday life of our school, such as hearing children read.

If you are interested in becoming involved please contact Mrs Lowden who will be delighted to hear from you. All members of FOSP will undergo safeguarding checks (DBS enhanced disclosure).

When the group was first set up they organised a coffee afternoon with an interactive phonics workshop to enable our parents and carers to gain a better insight into how the school approaches the teaching of phonics. Members have also supported the school at our very successful Summer Fayre, helping to run stalls alongside staff and supported our ever popular annual MacMillain Coffee afternoon.

As last year all money raised at our summer fayre in July will be used to subsidise trips and visitors this academic year in order to widen the learning experiences of our children.
